NT Scan

First let me start by saying WOW what a waste of time this was!!! So Luis takes off work to go with me because I didn't want to get the results by myself. My aunt watched Mia because they don't allow kids in the room. So we get there on time, go into the room and this doctor starts the ultrasound. Immediately I ask about the bleed and bed rest, he looks at me like I am crazy. I was thinking that since I have been upfront about my situation with every single appointment that I have had starting at week 9 that the notes in the computer would be looked at for this. This was not the case. I had to explain to him that we originally started out with twins then lost one at 8 weeks. He was completely surprised he had no clue. So now that he knows this it changes everything. The blood work that I had done in the first trimester is counting twins in the blood levels which will throw off all of the markers on the test. So the nine vials that I gave weeks ago was all for nothing. Then we get back to the scan and the baby is laying on his side with his or her back to us. The doctor can't seem to get a measurement, then he says the chord is right behind the baby's neck so now he really can't get a measurement. He says sorry its not going to happen today. He says if I want to try the scan again I would have to come back in one or two days because I am getting ready to pass the timeline of having it done. He says I have to honest with you, you could come back and the chord could still be there. Then he goes on to say I really don't like to waste peoples time. He really was cold, harsh and of course had no bedside manner at all, like most doctors. He was very negative with his words, he would be scanning the baby and say well the problem is then stay silent, Luis and I were so scared that we were about to hear bad news with the baby. This is the reason why I opt out of having a doctor deliver my baby I would rather deal with a midwife. Doctor Werlin spoils you he really does. He honestly is the best doctor that I have ever been to, that's why leaving him is so hard:( When I lost one of my twins and started crying uncontrollably Dr. Werlin hugged me so tight for the longest time! DOCTORS JUST DON'T DO THAT! He is special! So no blood work no scan. We decided not to do another scan, and I will go in around week 15 - 20 for second trimester blood work. You know maybe this was a blessing in disguise because I know so many women who get false positives on these scans and I know if that happened to me I would be sad and thinking about it for the entire pregnancy. Who would want that? The good thing that happened out of the appointment was that the doctor said that the bleed was so small  and going away so he saw no reason why I couldn't slowly start to resume normal activities. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO! He said if I hadn't mentioned the bleed that he would have glanced right over it without thinking twice. So yes I am taking it easy but I am taking my life back!!! Baby looks great by the way, he or she was moving around like crazy:)

I am so sorry you had a bad experience with your OB. Is there any way you can switch? I've had several insensitive OB's and I feel awful that you have to deal with this.

Hi this was a specialist just for the NT scan, so I will never have to see him again!!! Yay! My next appt is with a midwife that I love and I should be seeing her for the remainder of the pregnancy:) So excited for you!!! You graduate this week right? How do you like the new building?

Yep, I can't believe it. This is scary new water for me!

It's nice, but I hate change! I kinda missed the old waiting room, ultrasound rooms and even blood lab! I love that the Stones stuff and doctor dolls made the move!

I'm glad you have a midwife you know and trust. I was feeling so sad and worried for you today. No more dr w AND a mean ob.... Talk about a bad week!

Glad to hear you'll be on your feet again soon!
